What does a stuck EGR valve cause?
A valve stuck open can cause rough idle and poor performance at low speed. A valve stuck closed can affect emissions behaviour and engine response. A scan and inspection confirm which, if either, applies.
Can the EGR valve just be cleaned?
Often, when it is sticking from deposits and is otherwise sound. If it has failed electrically or mechanically, other options are explained after inspection.
Is the EGR warning serious?
It depends on the symptoms. Reduced power, rough running or a flashing light is a reason to get the car checked promptly.
